Mending beloved rags and scraps

Here I am at the sewing table with a rag stocking puppy doll who is losing his left ear. I told him not to worry because Mother is really good at mending soft toys with a needle and thread. Also, the first thing she ever knit for Father is this scrappy striped garter stitch scarf, which is over 12 years old and knit from her great-grandmother's wool stash. As you can see, it is beginning to unravel. Good thing she is handy, as this is Father's most favorite winter scarf. Life can get really busy sometimes. And it is nice to just stop once in a while and spend time taking care of your favorite things.
